Melissa Greene in concert at First Baptist
When hearing Melissa sing, one undoubtedly knows that this woman's heart belongs to Jesus. As she sings you can feel, experience, and acknowledge the place where His glory dwells. It is the passion and desire of Melissa's heart that her audience would not only experience a concert of music, but also have a life changing experience with Jesus Christ! Melissa is a native Floridian, who grew up in the Tampa Bay area where she attended First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks. Melissa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior when she was just six years old. As she began to grow up and to mature spiritually, her desire to commit her life to full-time ministry grew even more evident. She began singing on the platform when she was thirteen years old and was a featured soloist for the Indian Rocks choir from 1996-2002. Melissa is 27 years old, yet her experiences have enabled her to become a seasoned worship leader. She attended Lee University where she was a featured soloist with the Lee singers and Second Edition. She traveled to China with the Lee Singers, where she experienced first hand the need of spreading God's love to the entire world. In January of 2000, Melissa joined TRUTH and traveled with them through December of 2001. While Melissa was with TRUTH, the group led worship in Hong Kong, the Philippines and on the Ivory Coast of Africa. In September 2002, Melissa became a member of Sparrow Records' gold-selling vocal group, Avalon. On March 25, 2003, Avalon released "Testify to Love - The Very Best of Avalon" which is a collection of 12 number 1 radio hits. "Testify to Love" also features 3 brand new songs which were the first studio cuts Avalon recorded with Melissa. Her first radio release "Everything to Me" is a powerful ballad. At the end of 2003, "Everything to Me" was ranked #3 on the R&R Adult Contemporary Chart for the Year. On April 28, 2004, "Everuything to Me" won a Dove Award for "Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year." In February 2004, Avalon released an all-new studio album, "The Creed" which is the first full recording showcasing the voices of Melissa and Greg Long. Two of the songs on the CD, "All" and "I Bring it to You" features Melissa, and Melissa and Janna co-wrote "The Good Way" with Cindy Morgan. Avalon's new CD, "The Stand" was just released in January 2006. Three of the songs feature Melissa - "The Other Side," "I Survive," and "Where Joy and Sorrow Meet." Melissa and Jody co-wrote the song "The Other Side." Avalon just released a new CD called "Faith - A Collection of Hymns." In December 2003, Melissa completed her first solo CD, "Then and There." This CD is a compilation of songs that represent Melissa's heart and testimony. On June 29, 2003, Melissa married Ben Greene. Ben, Melissa and their son, a little Pomeranian named King, currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee. Melissa's life verse is Psalm 63:8: "My soul follows hard after Thee, Thy right hand upholds me." (KJV) She is compelled and completely equipped to use her experiences, along with her unwavering faith, to lead an audience in worshipping our Lord and Savior. One of Melissa's favorite quotes and something she bases the mission of her ministry on is "The criterion of success for my ministry is certainly not the size of my audience but whether, through my ministry, the Spirit is producing saints." (Revival Praying by Leonard Raevenhill). Melissa has a website - melissalgreene.com - which provides more information about Melissa and her solo ministry. |
