St. Boniface Catholic Church
By Sue Beams

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for again this year. I am especially grateful to have had my son, Brian, his wife Christie, and my chunky-monkey grandson Isaiah, as well as my daughter Kristy and granddaughter Maya home with me. Our table was abounding with food, fun and laughter, as I hope each of yours was too! God is so Good!

On the 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time, members of St. Boniface celebrated Christ the King. We have learned of Kings throughout history. Their power is material. Their kingship is not shared, and their kingdoms end with their passing. Jesus, our King, is still among us! His power is spiritual. His Kingship is shared with all of us. His Kingdom is eternal.

As Fr. James entered the Church Sunday morning, representatives of the parish Youth carried white flowers to present to our King, Jesus Christ. The choir sounded great, singing praises to the King!

If you thought that November was a busy month, just wait till you hear what's happening at St. Boniface in December.

We begin on Friday, December 1st with First Friday Holy Hour, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction at 5:00 pm. This is a great way to begin the Advent Season, always mindful that Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

The 2nd Annual Altar Servers Recognition Day will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Corrada with a reception, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, to follow. For more information, please contact Ken Webber at the Church Office.

December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass is at 6:00 pm. Following the Eucharistic Celebration, we will go over the results of the Parish Survey. All parish members are encouraged to attend.

Sunday, December 10th is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A very special Mass will be offered. The St. Boniface community will celebrate with a Potluck Lunch at 12:00 noon. Families are asked to bring a covered dish to share. This will be in conjunction with our annual Christmas Party. Watch for more details in next week's bulletin.

On Monday, December 11th at 6:00 pm, the Altar Society will hold their Christmas party in the home of Mary Hoffman. Don't forget your 'exchange' gift, a dish to share, and your donation for our Holiday Project (adopt a resident of the Chandler Nursing Center). Husbands are invited to join us as we ring in the Christmas season.

The Youth are selling Advent calendars, wreaths and candles. Please contact Sigi Bunday for more information.

St. Boniface will again assist the Chandler Community in providing holiday food baskets for those families in need. If interested in helping, contact Evelyn Schroeder. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated.

Speaking of needs: There are members in our own parish who are in need of help this holiday season. A donation box has been placed in the Community Center. We as a parish, need to help our own. We ask you to please be generous.

Congratulations and best wishes to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We ask the healing touch of the Lord on those who are sick and suffering. Remember in prayer those who have died. May they find eternal rest. Keep in prayer the brave men and women who serve our country. May the Lord bless them and keep them safe.

Have a wonderful week!
