Hometown Heroes toy drive underway With Christmas just a few short weeks away, numerous organizations have begun toy drives to assist those families in need of help. The Brownsboro/Chandler Hometown Heroes is one of those organizations that hopes to make Christmas better for those who otherwise may go without. Applications for assistance can be picked up at Brownsboro and Chandler elementary schools, Brownsboro and Chandler city halls, Y's Hometown Foods and B.J.s in Brownsboro, and Kwik Kash in Chandler. Applications should be dropped off at either Brownsboro or Chandler city hall by December 20. The Brownsboro/Chandler Hometown Heroes is comprised of a group of folks who are everyday people performing extraordinary acts every day - volunteer fire fighters and police officers. Vol- unteers from this group will pick up, sort and distribute the toys. Drop off points for unwrapped toys in Brownsboro are Brownsboro city hall and police department, Pizza Pro, B.J.'s, El Presidente, Southern Maid Donuts, and The Statesman. Felix at Southern Maid is offering a 50 cent discount on a donut for a donated toy. In Chandler, toys can be left at Chandler city hall and police department, San Pedro's, Kwik Kash and Brookshire's. Deadline is December 22. An account has been set up at the First State Bank in Brownsboro for monetary donations. The Hometown Heroes are also accepting items for senior citizens and shut ins. |
