Bears dominate Cardinals
Brownsboro jumped out to a quick lead in the first period going on an 11-0 run. Sabine's first point of the game came on a free throw with 3:07 remaining in the first period of play. The Bears continued to roll in the first period and when the buzzer sounded ending the period the Bears led 19-2. Both of Sabine's first period point came off free throws. Colin Thompson began the game in style for the Bears as he nailed a three pointer. Thompson hit from behind the arc once more in the period as the Bears nailed 4 three pointers in the first period of play. Andrew Adair and Seth Martin also had first period threes. Entering the second period the Cardinals began the uphill climb of battling back. Sabine first field goal of the game came at the 7:48 mark in the second period. Brownsboro fought off the Cardinal second period charge to take a 32-17 lead into the half. Sabine shot 3- 13 from the free throw line in the first half while the Bears made 10-14. Sabine hit the floor running in the second half. The Cardinals went on a 10-2 run during the first four minutes of play to cut into the Bears led. Leading 38-27 with 2:28 left in the third period the Bears found their stride once again and dominated the Cardinals in the closing minutes. Brownsboro continued their third period surge into the fourth period outscoring the visiting Cardinals 17-14. Andrew Pollard nailed a three pointer as part of his 7 fourth period points for Brownsboro. With the win the Bears improved to 2-0 on the season. Joe Denney led the Bears in scoring with 15 points. Denney scored 3 or more points in every period and was 5-5 from the free throw line. Andrew Adair (13) and Andrew Pollard (10) also hit double figures in scoring for the Bears.
The Bears will host Malakoff on Tuesday. December 5th. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30pm. After Malakoff the Bears will take part in the Great East Texas Shoot Out beginning Thursday, Dec. 7. |
