Chandler F.U.M.C. "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my whole being shall exult in my God: for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness . . ." Isaiah 61:10 "Going to church gives me many blessings by renewing my faith weekly and by being blessed by the love and the friendships that I have made in the last six years while living in Chandler." Contributed by Dr. Dan M. Saxon. Mr. Saxon is President of the United Methodist Men and also the gentleman that puts up the inspirational and thought provoking messages on our sign in the front of the church. Other than these activities, he is a good whistler and knows some good jokes. If you have not met him yet, make a point to do so. The new "We're H.I.S." mission is underway. They are currently building a wheelchair ramp for a lady who has not been able to leave her house, due to not having an access. If you would like to help in this project contact Marla by this Saturday. Earl Loving, a long time member of our church passed away last Saturday at the age of 94. We extend our sympathies to his family for their loss, but know that he now rests with his Father in Heaven. "Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding," Isaiah 40:28 As the Christmas Holidays are rapidly approaching I thought we may benefit from Isaiah's verse. So often we tend to over-do in our preparation for the holidays with activities, parties to plan and attend, that exhaustion some times comes over us long before the day we are celebrating comes. This verse helps me to remember, even when I am physically tired, I can go to God and be renewed. Talk with God about your plans, your purpose and what you want to achieve during the holidays. He is great in helping with true priorities. Happy Anniversary: Robert and Tina Burch, Glen and Deborah Cade, and Jerry and Alice Murl Kidd. "Let marriage be held in honor by all . . ." Hebrews 13:4 "Let mutual love continue." Hebrews 13:1 Happy Birthday: Sarah Clark, Anne Delaney, Jessica Delaney, Gayle Haynes, Linda McKeever, Alice Murl Kidd, Dolores Mourgos, Beth Helms and Janice Poteet. These ladies remind one of Charles Dickens "Cheerfulness and content are great beautifiers and great preservers of youthful looks." Thought for the Week: "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 13:8 "To grow in grace is to be infinitely passive and yet active also: passive as regards to self and its workings, active as regards to attention and response to God. We must lay down all the activity of the creature as such, and must let only the activities of God work in us, through us and by us." Excerpts from The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life, Hannah Whitall Smith, Published in 1870. |
