St. Boniface Catholic Church The first Sunday of Advent brings the longing and preparation for Jesus. The season of Advent is one of new beginnings and fresh starts. Members of St. Boniface began the Eucharistic Celebration with the traditional lighting of the 1st (purple) candle on our Advent wreath. On Friday, December 8, the Mass will be celebrated in honor of the Immaculate Conception at 6:30 pm. This is a holy day of obligation. Following the Mass, interested members of the church will go over the results of the Church Survey; refreshments will be served. Next Sunday, December 10, our parish will celebrate the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe with a special Mass. At 12:00 (noon) a parish Pot-Luck lunch will be held, followed by the annual parish Christmas party. Families are asked to bring a dish to share. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us for fun, food and fellowship! The Altar Society will hold its annual Christmas Party at Mary Hoffman's home. Ladies, don't forget your dish to share, your holiday exchange gift for the fun game, and your donation for the Christmas Project (adopt a resident of Chandler Nursing Home). Husbands are invited to share in the fun, see you there! There are several ways in which you can help spread the Christmas Spirit this holiday season. Our youth continue to offer Advent calendars, wreaths and candles. Contact one of the youth advisors for more information on prices and availability. Donations for the needy members of St.Boniface can be left in the designated box in the Community Center. You can get more information by contacting the church office. If you are interested in helping out with the Holiday Food Basket drive in Chandler, contact Evelyn Schroeder. The 2007 Catholic Extension Calendars have arrived. Pick yours up (one per family, please) in the community center. These are dedicated this year to the Blessed Virgin with many beautiful works of art. Holy Days, holidays and other helpful information are included for you to refer to throughout the year. There is a signature sheet in the community center for members in St.Boniface who would like to continue sponsoring the Passion Play. As you know, this has become an ecumenical endeavor with several area churches participating. There has been interest expressed by other denominations to hold the play at their churches. The Passion Play is a beautiful presentation and the Lenten Season just wouldn't be the same without it. No one wants to stop presenting this play. St.Boniface would hold the play again on a rotation basis. Please consider this proposition carefully and honestly. If you want to keep the Passion Play at St.Boniface place your signature on the sheet. By signing the sheet you are not obligating yourself to participate in the play. Father James, the Parish Council and St.Boniface members in general simply need to know where everyone stands on the issue. Congratulations and Best Wishes to all those who are celebrating Birthdays and Anniversaries. Pray for those who are sick and suffering; remember too, the faithful departed. May they rest in Christ peace. Continue to lift up in prayer the men and women in the armed services. May the Lord hold them lovingly and safely in the palm of His hand. Have a Blessed Week! Jesus is coming!! |
