Brownsboro First UMC
by Glenda Elliott

The first Sunday in December is The Christmas Angel of the Advent Season. Four years ago God blessed us with our own Christmas Angel named LeAnn, so the first Sunday in December is always special for many reasons. Our Advent service combined with Communion service that we had Sunday has made a great start for this wonderful holiday season.

Ernest and I would like to thank all of you that honored us by coming to the Open House. God blessed us by being transferred here and having such a beautiful home to share. Please feel free to drop by and have refreshments and visit anytime.

Sunday night was the Hanging of the Greens service and it went so well! We had several young ones that finished decorating the Chrismon Tree and then to watch Ms. Lexie Bell turn on the lights made me feel warm all over. Should you ever wonder if God still blesses, just ask me. I can show you a place of worship that He is blessing continuously.

Next Sunday at 6:00 p.m. is our Children's Program. Please come and join us for it and the time of refreshment afterward. There is going to be a special visitor after the service during the refreshment time.

Congratulations to Shawn and Michelle in the birth of their son Jackson, and to the grandparents, Coy and Paula. We are looking forward to his joining big sis Gracie in the services.

Congratulations, Bears on a great run for State Champs and a continued winning streak.

In Luke 2:8-14 we are told of the Angels that appeared before the shepherds to announce Christ our Savior was born. He did not come as a king, a mighty warrior, even though He could have. Instead

as a child, innocent and new. Not even born to wealth but to common folks. The first announcement was to common people, good, hardworking shepherds. Did they put off going to check out the news? No, they made haste to find the Child and worship Him. Do we make haste to worship Him? Do we put our busy life ahead of Christ? Slow down, pay attention to whom we celebrate this time of the year.

May God bless you and yours.

Ernest's Article:

Back during WWII a little boy and his daddy were driving home on Christmas Eve. They drove past rows of houses with Christmas trees and decorations in the window. In many of the windows the little boy noticed a star. He asked his father, "Daddy, why do some of the people have a star in the window?" His daddy said that the star meant that the family had a son in the war.

As they passed the last house, suddenly the little boy

caught sight of the evening star in the sky. "Look, Daddy, God must have a son in the war, too! He's got a star in his window."

We at First United Methodist Church of Brownsboro would like to say thank you to the families who will not have loved ones home for Christmas because of the war. Their loved ones are fighting and they are making many sacrifices on our behalf We would also like to say thank you to all those who will not be home for Christmas because you are making a personal sacrifice on our behalf.

J. Oswald Sanders writes, "Courage is the quality of mind which enables men to encounter danger or difficulty with firmness, or without fear or depression of spirits. The highest degree of courage is seen in the person who is most fearful but refuses to capitulate. "

We pray for you every Sunday in our service and ask God to watch over you. God bless and keep you.

Bro. Ernest.
