Chandler F.U.M.C. “Smile on me, your servant; teach me the right way to live.” - Psalm 119:135 “The Lord takes pleasure in his people.” Psalm 149:4 The Lord had truly smiled on his children, and with great pleasure. These children were asked “What would you give Jesus for his birthday?” Their questions ranged from practical to creative. Their families must be very proud; we as a congregational family certainly are. Thank you, girls and boys for sharing your thoughts with us. “What I would give Jesus for his birthday is my stuffed rabbit that I’ve had since I was two months old, because I would give him my life.” By Claire Rains, age 9 “If Jesus was born today I would give him peace, comfort, joy and praise.” By Sami Jo Taylor, age 9 “I was getting ready to go to the stable where this new King was born. An angel told me that a new King had been born, his name was Jesus. I had gathered up everything I had to give him. I had my tent, some wheat, some honey, and some cups I had left from my baby. I thought to myself, “This had better be a real King. I am giving everything I have!!” So I walked, and walked, and walked, following the Star the whole way. When I got to the stable, I saw a little baby in a trough with some straw. Right then, I was so sorry that I had doubted that he was not real. I bowed down and offered my gifts. Then I walked home, with the memory of a great King in my head.” By Carlin Cherry, age 9 “I would give Jesus for his birthday: Peace, sweet perfume, precious jewelry, gold, silver, pearls, and jades. If I was alive during the time of Jesus, I would also give him the glory of life, and happiness. ” By Zane Griffin, age 10 “I would give him clothing, diapers, and baby food, and a baby bed.” By Taylor Johnston, age 10 “Dear Jesus, I would give you warmth, and baby powder. ” By Trey Mesa, age 10 “What I would give Jesus on his birthday: I would give him a bottle of AXE cologne and some shaving cream and some diapers, and wipes.” By Lyn York, age 10 “I want to give Jesus a smiley face balloon for his birthday. On Christmas Day I will go outside and let the balloon go up to heaven.” By Sarah Stokke, age 5. “It’s Jesus birthday? I would pray for Jesus.” By Cade Smith, age 7. This Sunday will be a celebration of music when all the church choirs will perform “Celebrate the Season,” by Joel Raney, at both the 8:00 and 11:00 o’clock services. Don’t miss hearing our whole music ministry. They will truly put you in the joy of Christmas. Sunday evening the Bell Choirs will perform. This includes the Joy Jinglers, Junior Choir and the Junior High Bell Ringers. Bring your friends, neightbors, family and someone you would like to make a friend. Both services will be a time of “Joy and Comfort.” Happy Birthday to: Bill Snow, Vicki Karl, Millard Martin, Carlin Cherry, Julie Holcomb, John Killough, Julie Holcomb, Bobby Long, John Miller, and Carter Lackey. A Thought for the Week: “It is impossible for man to despair who remembers that his Helper is omnipotent.” By Jeremy Taylor As Romans 12:2 states “Let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God - what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.” |
