Tour of Trees winner announced

Sonic Drive-In’s uniquely decorated tree won the recent Tour of Trees held at the First United Methodist Church and sponsored by Women’s Unity Fellowship. Visitors voted for their favorite tree with canned goods.

Sonic’s handmade ornaments were crafted from wrappers, cups, straws and peppermints with the Sonic logo. They collected 542 cans. The runner-up was the “Gad Abouts” of Rock Hill with 272 cans.

Also participating were University of Texas ex’s (212); Texas A&M ex’s (28); Nutcracker Ballet by Malleri McHam (110); Dancing Pencil African Literacy Project (126); United Methodist Women (5); Chandler Elementary (252), Brownsboro FFA (31); La-Di-Da Red Hatters (56); Hats (10); Brenda Epperson Memorial Scholoarship (58).

A total of 1,722 canned goods were donated to God’s Open Hands.
