On Wednesday, Dec. 6th, ladies of the Friends & Flowers Garden Club got off to an early start, celebrating Christmas at the home of Sara Taylor in Athens. Sara’s decorations were a sight to behold. She is a very talented lady, and life-size angels (created by Sara), had their special places in the beautiful home that Sara shares with her husband George.

The “Friends” all brought a covered dish of their favorite recipes while Sara furnished the turkey and ham. Martha Hardwick furnished desserts, and for party favors, Sara made each lady a mini friendship (fruit) cake and a small jar of jelly. Tables set for the group were all so beautifully decorated with the finest of linens, Christmas china, and glassware.

Each member brought a gift, and just like kids, the ladies had fun seeing what their first Christmas gift of the season turned out to be. Murlene Wommack gave all the ladies a pair of garden gloves with a Christmas card.

Each year the “gardeners” give a donation of money to help someone in the community. This year’s donation will go to the Manasseh Ministries in Edom, Texas.

Those attending the annual Christmas party were Anna Mae Williams, Rosemary Parmley, Wanda McCreary, Jean Dean, Martha Hardwick, Carol Blakely, Iva Williams, Murlene Wommack, Bobbie Sparks, Sara Taylor and Dixie Taylor.
