Memorial services for Jana Lynn Freeman, 53, Big Lake, formerly of Chandler, were held Monday, December 4, 2006 at First Assembly of God in Big Lake with Pastor David Thompson officiating.

Burial was in Glenn Rest Cemetery under direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home, San Angelo.

Mrs. Freeman died November 30, 2006.

She was born July 2, 1953 in San Angelo, but grew up in Chandler. She was a BISD graduate of the Class of ‘72. She was owner/operator of Aquila Machine and Service, and a volunteer for Keep Big Lake Beautiful where she served as executive director since 1997. She was also active in Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful, and organized Envirocamp while director of KBLB.

She was president of Economic Development Board of Big Lake, was a member of Big Lake Chamber of Commerce since 1998, and was active on many boards, including those of Reagan County Museum, Security State Bank and Concho Valley Workforce Development, and was active in KAIROS Prison Ministry. She was named Citizen of the Year in 1998 and received the Community Builder Award in 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Freeman.

Survivors include son, Joey Costlow, Big Lake; daughters, Teresa Dimery and Jene Ortiz, both of Big Lake, Angie Rumbo, Chandler, and Annette Morgan; mother, Marjorie Dailey; brother, David Thompson, McGregor; sisters, Sheila Laymance, Shirley Parmer, Debra Boyd and Gale Suggs, all of Chandler; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Jack Blakely, Roy Bolen, Paul Brown, Dave Carr, Jim Murray, Juan Maltos, Gerald Isom and Carl Settle.

Honorary pallbearers were Terry Jones, Charlie Walker, Cliff Miller, Billy Pettit, Cindy O’Bryan, Russell Ash, Larry Isom, Stetson Elliott, Steven Elliott, Gerald Chadwick and Jaymz Hankins.
