Band students qualify for Region 21 All Region Band

On Saturday, December 2, thirty three Brownsboro High School students auditioned for and were named to the ATSSB All-Region Band.

Those students who made the All-Region band are: Amanda Parker - oboe; Kelsie Burton, Taylor Cramer, Lesley Smith and Crystal Young - flutes; Callie Boozer, Kaylan McGaughey, Madison Peyton, Jessica Scott, Julie Travis - clarinet; Shuntae Redic, Jeremy Miller - bass clarinet; Mary Jones - contra bass clarinet; Jordan McCallie, Blake Richardson, Tarah Thornton - alto sax; Nathaniel Kuhns - tenor sax; Zach Garcia, Clay Maddox, Jake Brooks - trumpets; Kate Griffin, Carter Maddox, Marla Pollard, Vanessa Pannel - French horns; Justin Paine, Preston Reid, Patrick Taylor, Ruben Watson - trombones; Katy Ereman, Jarrett McDowell, Chris Radford, Hayden Tuley - baritones; and David Barnett - tuba. practicing on music they received to audition for these spots in August. These students received help from band directors and private instructors before their audition in December. At this level, they competed with students from the East Texas area. They placed high enough in their sections to be named to the all-region band.

Thirteen of these students placed at the top of their individual sections and were named to the All-Area band.

They are: Amanda Parker - oboe; Kaylan McGaughey, Jessica Scott, Julie Travis - clarinets; Mary Jones - contra bass clarinet; Blake Richardson, Tarah Thornton - alto saxophone; Jake Brooks - trumpet; Carter Maddox, Marla Pollard - French horn; Patrick Taylor, Ruben Watson - trombone; and David Barnett - tuba.

These students will continue to work on their music for competition on January 6, 2007 for a chance to be named to the ATSSB All-State Band.

The Brownsboro High School band is directed by Mr. Jeff Russell.

On Friday, Dec. 1, and Sat., Dec. 2, twenty Brownsboro Junior High School students auditioned for and were named to the All-Region Band. They are Christina Nipper, Haily Gray, Trey Volentine, Mallorie Lough, Chelsey Fowler, Kelsey Parker, Jordynn Conner, Jordan Thomas, Kelsey Head, Macy Pollard, Cashay Carter, Ashleigh Alford, Jesse Johnson, Ryan Reid, Kasey Cliver, Daniel Hawkins, James Pace, Carlos Mendoza, Zach Anderson, and April Earl.

The Brownsboro Junior High School band is directed by Mrs. Michelle Stuckey, Mrs. Alice Slayton, and Mr. Steve Wise. Both bands are assisted by student teacher Mr. Weston Fisher.
