A tale of two halves
Bears mount a 14-13 first half lead, before falling 35-14 to Celina

Entering last Friday night’s game there were only 12 class 3A teams still playing football. There were eight teams alive in Division Two and just four teams alive in Division One action.
History was in the making as the Brownsboro Bears matched up with the Bobcats from Celina.
Celina entered the game as 22 point favorites from the Harris Rating System. The Bears entered the game with confidence high as they set numerous school records including becoming the first Brownsboro squad to play at Texas Stadium.
After each team burst through banners made by their respective schools the Bears won the opening coin toss and elected to defer their options to the second half.
With the defer the Bears defense stepped on the field to begin a nice first half for the Bears.
Celina ran twice to open the game with Charley Waldrip only gaining a yard. Facing a third and nine Bobcat quarterback Dru Prosser was sacked by Ryan Epperson as the Bears defense dominated the Bobcat front.

Two plays into their first drive of the game the Bears reached another milestone as Cameron Warren rushed for 12 yards and the first down. Warren’s carry marked the first time a team from Henderson County recorded a first down at Texas Stadium.
The remainder of the game the Bears would continue to set County records for each play they did, both good and bad. Brownsboro’s defense
dominated the Bobcats as Cameron Warren sacked Prosser for a six yard loss on third and nine. After two Bobcat offensive series the Bears defense held the high powered Celina offense to negative three yards.
Not letting the excellent defense go to waste the Brownsboro offense picked up momentum to take the first lead of the game.
Losing 7 yards on two plays the Bears needed a big play. Quarterback Jordan Magee knew where to look for a big play as he hooked up with Logan Bryan for a 57 yard completion down the Celina sideline.

On the Bobcat nine yard line Ryan Epperson rumbled five yards before Ricco Richards scored the first points of the game with 2:26 remaining in the first quarter.
Wanting to keep the Bobcats reeling the Bears special teams pulled out a “special” play from their bag of tricks.
Tyler Smith pooched the ball high into the air as Senior Jonathon Johnson darted down the sideline. Before Celina knew what was going on Johnson recovered the ball in the air to regain possession for the Bears.
Six plays later the Bears found the endzone once again as Ryan Epperson bulled over defenders from one yard out on fourth and goal.
Setting up Epperson’s score was another big play by the Bears passing game. Magee connected with David Rudd for a 31 yard gain down to the Bobcat six yardline.

Leading 14-0 with 11:13 to play in the first half things appeared to be well in hand for another Brownsboro victory.
Showing signs of life the Celina offense burst into their first play of the second quarter with a 23 yards run by Prosser. Celina drove down to the Brownsboro four yardline before the Bear defense stopped the Bobcats a yard short of the first down.
Beginning their fourth drive of the game the Bears started on their own four yardline. Ricco Richards gave the Bears a little breathing room moving the ball out to the six yardline. Then the wheels seemed to fall off the Bear offense.
Trying to stretch the Bobcat defense by running to the outside the Bears fumbled the ball, recording the first turnover of the game.
Celina was quick to recover the loose ball and just about as quick to score. Prosser cut the Bears lead in half with a one yard quarterback keeper with 6:18 left in the quarter.
Needing to sustain a long drive to damper the Bobcats rally hopes the Bears only managed to gain 12 yards before being forced to punt from the Celina 49 yardline.
David Rudd’s punt went into the endzone for a touchback, setting the Bobcats up on their own 20.
With 4:23 left to play in the first half the Celina offense began to look like the offense highly spoken of entering the game.
Celina drove 85 yards in 12 plays, overcoming a five yard false start penalty, to move within one after a Prosser 13 yard touchdown run.
Looking to tie the game at 14 with :32 left to play in the half the Bobcats lined up to kick the extra point. As he has done often this season Walter Guthrie ruined the Bobcats plans of tieing the game as they raced into the backfield and blocked the punt.
Jonathon Wilson recovered the loose ball for the Bears and raced down to the Bobcat 44 yardline before being drug down from behind. Two plays later the Bears entered the half with a 14-13 lead.
Opening the second half with the ball the Brownsboro offense managed to gain just eight yards in three plays before punting the ball away.
Proving their final drive of the first half was no fluke; the Bobcats offense took off rolling again.
Waldrep scored from one yard out to give the Bobcats the 19-14 lead with 6:22 to play in the third quarter. D’Anton
production was Jordan Magee with 93 yards passing. Magee completed 5-14 passes, throwing two second half interceptions. Logan Bryan led the Bears in receiving with 60 yards. With the 35-14 win the

Things would not get any better in the second half for the Bears as the Bobcats took completed control.
Celina held the Brownsboro offense in check the second half after allowing 115 yards in the first half. Brownsboro did not manage any offensive yards in the second half as the Celina defense was relentless. Leading the Bears in offensive
