Chandler F.U.M.C. The intent this week was to share with the readers the 5 to 8 year old’s response to the question “What would you give Jesus for his birthday?” Unfortunately, the tape player broke right as I started to transcribe their responses. There are a few that were saved and they were so wonderful. Next year I hope the young children will participate again, and share their wonderful gifts with us. “I am going to be a better kid next year.” said Hallie Bass, age 8. “I would give Jesus a warm bath.” Joseph Cherry, age 7. “I want to give Jesus a bed.” Cubby Criffin, age 7. “I would give Jesus a baloon.” Kristina Grace, age 4. “I would give Jesus my heart.” I would give him peace.” Love, joy, comfort, peace and goodness, no better gifts exist. All is well in heaven and the angels must be singing for these little ones on earth. The calendar of Church events for this week is ensuring that Christmas joy will be spread all around town. The Children’s Choir will be caroling Wednesday, December 20 at the Chandler Nursing Center. The residents are going to love that experience. The U.M.W. will have their Christmas Party at Don and Martha Copeland’s new home. All in attendance will be sharing their favorite and personal Christmas experience. That should make for a good book, and with homemade cookies, a very good time. The College and Career Class Christmas Party will be at Kyle and Jill McGill’s home. The Parsonage Open House will be from 4-7 p.m. December 21. Christmas Eve the morning services will be standard time. The evening service will be 9 p.m. and will consist of singing Christmas Hymns and receiving communion. What a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. For those remaining in town and those who have visiting family, plan on attending. It is a truly wonderful opportunity to share the Christmas spirit with everyone. Happy Anniversary to: Judith and Merlin Boehms, Shirley and Bob Pyle, and Juanita and Winston Reagan, who will have been married for seventy-one years December 20. Happy Birthday: Carter Lackey, Dan Mourgos, Lyndie Wangler, Carter Maddox, Nicki Biggs, Buster Kidd, Marcie Hutchins, Cubby Griffin, Emogene Finley, Tommy Pollard, Tom Birdwell, Dorothy Newsom, Lou Langston, and James Thompson. Thought for the Week: “A word aptly spoken is the apple of gold in settings of silver.” Proverbs 25:11 Think of how these words make you feel “I love you,” “Thank you,” “I am sorry,” “May I help,” and “May God bless you,” if you are not using these words each day, try saying each one today, they make wonderful gifts. |
