Union Hill Baptist News
by Mickie Bigbie

If you missed Brother Bill’s message Sunday morning, you really missed an outstanding one! The message focused on family, not just our own families, but God’s family. It was a most fitting topic for this time of the year and I pray that we all take heed to the message.

Also on Sunday, the fourth and final week of Advent, the Joe Cantrell family lit the Advent Candle during the morning service.

Members and many visitors experienced a delightful presentation Sunday evening by the children of Union Hill. Brightly wrapped gifts, which adorned the aisles of the sanctuary, were removed to reveal beautifully costumed youngsters portraying those present at the birth of Jesus. From the youngest to the oldest child, they performed beautifully, telling the story with confidence and understanding of the events. The children were just precious. What a treasure the Lord has provided us. To all those adults who worked so hard, not only on this presentation, but in the teaching of our youngsters, please accept our gratitude for a job well done. Many thanks also to the ladies who provided the refreshments following the play. This is such a special time

of the year as now the birthday of Jesus rapidly approaches. Excitement fills the air as everyone gets ready. There are parties, cards, gifts and goodies all over the place. But through all this preparation for the big day, let’s not forget the real reason we are celebrating. Reflecting back over the past few days, one thing that stands out in my mind, was the appearance of a little Christmas gift snuggled in with all the red and green boxes, shining in its bright birthday wrapping. It’s still the little, subtle things that attract your attention and jar you back into the realization of the reason for the season. Thank you, thank you for that bright little reminder!

Saturday, the 16th, members of The Wheels of Mercy and The Daughters of Destiny

manned the Salvation Army Kettle at Brookshire’s in Chandler. The following day, Sunday, they rode to Ft. Worth to participate in the Texas Toy Run.

Sunday we will have only one service at Union Hill, the morning service. Many, many families will be getting together on Christmas Eve. There are still many festivities going on. Lots of you folks will be traveling this weekend and we pray God will watch over you and keep you safe. As you open your gifts on Christmas, remember that we have already received God’s most precious and perfect gift. Nothing can compare. We join you as we rejoice in the birth of Jesus and pray that He will bless you with His love and peace. Merry Christmas from up on the hill.
