Brownsboro First UMC
by Glenda Elliott

We had a great children’s program the 10th. It amazes me how much talent our children have. Their leaders for the program were Tonya and Vickie and they really had the congregation rocking with song and laughter. Afterwards we dismissed to the fellowship hall for refreshments and a special visitor. He sure had a strong lap; everyone sat on his lap, even Bro. Ernest.

In Sunday school we talked about love, how hard it is sometimes to love the unloveable. We have a hard time with some people we know. Can you imagine how hard it must have been for God to send us Jesus when we are such stinkers?

This time of year we are so busy searching for that “perfect gift” that we forget about the “perfect Gift” given to us so many years ago.

God has blessed us so much with friends and family and I pray He continues to bless you and yours.

Our thoughts and prayers go with those who are sick and grieving this time of the year. Mr. Vernon, get well quick -- we miss your smiling face. We can hardly wait to see baby Jackson make his first Sunday.

One of our church members is a wonderful poem and verse writer. Her name is Myra Jo and she sent as her poem for this year’s Christmas card. I was so impressed that she had captured how we feel and our wishes for everyone that I got permission to publish it in our article. It’s entitled “Merry Christmas.” God bless you all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

May all the joys of Christmas,

The sights, the scents, the laughter,

Be yours throughout this season

And for many a long year after. May the love of Christmas

You feel for family and each friend

Warm and sustain your heart

As we near the old year’s end.

May the promise of the New Year

Be fulfilled each day with grace,

May all you family be blessed,

With smiles on every face.

May the memories of Christmas

Fill your heart with peace and joy

Remembering the reason we celebrate

Is the birth of God’s sweet little Jesus boy.
