Amid shouts of glee and joy 10 lucky Brownsboro Intermediate students’ names were drawn to win a brand new bicycle, courtesy of the North Pole.
“I came to work the other morning and there they were, all bright and shiny” BIS Principal Billy Beasley said. “The instructions said to put all the students’ names in a box and draw 10 from it. This is really exciting for them.”
So during a specially called assembly, the names were drawn before the entire student body. The excitement grew as each name was announced: Ricky Martinez, 4th
grade; Brenda Johnson, 4th; Jessica McCuin, 4th; Hannah Gauze, 5th; Chelsea Roycroft, 4th; Phillip Smith, 5th; Domingo Olivares, 5th; Heaven Daugherty, 5th; Nicholas Johnson, 6th; and Aaron Crane, 5th.
“I was praying! And I won!” said Phillip Smith after the assembly.
“It was cool!” said Nicholas Johnson.
Brenda Johnson said she was going to ride her bike a lot.
“I think it’s pretty cool because I never won anything before,” said Hannah Gauze. “This is like, very new to me. I thought it was amazing!”
When Ricky Martinez’s name was drawn he said, “I was fixin’ to faint.”
“When they said Chelsea Roycroft I jumped up and started crying,” Chelsea said. “I’m going to take this home and ride!”
Keeping her priorities straight Heaven Daugherty said, “I’ll probably go home and do my homework then ride it around the yard.”
Domingo Olivares said he is surprised and excited. “I’m gonna go home and ride it!”
“I was so excited!,” said Jessica McCuin. “I was like, oh my God. They must have the wrong last name. But they didn’t.”
One of the lucky students, Aaron Crane was not in school when the drawing was held. Mr. Beasley promised he would deliver the bicycle to Aaron personally.
