West Lake Baptist News Christmas Eve Service: WLBC enjoyed one worship service on Sunday, Dec. 24th, in the morning at 10:00 a.m., with a full house present and a great spirit. The regular worship service schedule will resume this week, with Sunday night, December 31st featuring the Kidz Choir and a Lord’s Supper service. Guest Choir Concert: We were blessed to have the Friendly Baptist Church of Tyler, Texas, Choir present the musical drama, “A Christmas Prayer” here at WLBC on Sunday, Dec. 17th in the evening service. Over 400 were in attendance for the service, which featured a powerful presentation by the 80-plus members of the Friendly Choir. After the service, WLBC provided a BBQ Brisket meal to the choir. We appreciate Friendly Baptist Church, the choir, and Floyd Williford, the Minister of Music, for this special time of ministry. Guest Speaker: We were pleased to have Charles Dodson, Executive Director of Breckenridge Village, preach for us Sunday, Dec. 17, while the pastor and his wife were in Hawaii. Dr. Dodson was the former pastor of the Woods Baptist Church in Tyler, and has served at Breckenridge for approximately three years. We appreciate Bro. Charles, his ministry, and friendship with WLBC. Lottie Moon: The nationwide goal for the Lottie Moon Offering for the International Mission Board - National is $150 million. There are more than 350 people groups in West Africa without access to the Gospel. Southern Baptist Missionaries are working to change that, but they can’t do it without your prayers and your giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Thanks for your generous gifts that allow West Africa’s lost to know the name of Jesus Christ. Post Office: Thanks for bringing your Christmas cards for WLBC members and placing them in the Lottie Moon Post Office found in the foyer. Your efforts have assisted us in reaching our churchwide Lottie Moon Goal. Fellowships: The youth had a meeting Wednesday, Dec. 20th at the home of David and Stacy Nichols for a White Elephant exchange. The Evangels Class met during the holiday season for a luncheon with 14 in attendance. The Singing Saintz held their annual Christmas luncheon with 50-plus in attendance. Children’s Choir Caroling: The choir went caroling on Wednesday, Dec. 20 and ate at Milano’s afterward. On behalf of the pastor, staff and entire church family of WLBC, we wish you a merry Christmas and blessed new year. |
