Two red Nissan pick ups collide, injuring two

Failure to control speed sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning Dec. 20, when one vehicle rearended a second while stopped in the roadway attempting to make a left hand turn, in Chandler.

Sandra Gail Anderson, 47, was southbound on Farm-to- Market Road 315 in a 1993 red Nissan pick up truck, when she rear-ended a 1995 red Nissan pick up truck driven by Randel Romero Gaona, 30, of Winona, as he attempted to make a left turn into the Sportsman Paradise subdivision, Lehman said.

“When she topped that hill, she realized she was going too fast and slammed on the brakes,” he said. “She skidded sideways and hit him with the side of her truck passing his Nissan. Then she continued forward until she came to a stop.”

Lehman said the impact of the vehicles caused Anderson’s tool box and numerous miscellaneous items to scatter across the road. Additional Chandler police personnel and Chandler VFD first responders cleaned up the scene of the accident.

Anderson was transported to ETMC Tyler where she was

treated and released for minor injuries. Gaona refused transport, however, his passenger Eloisa Gaona, 30, complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital, where she was also treated and released.

All three were wearing their seatbelts.

Anderson was cited with failure to control speed, Lehman said.
