For the second consecutive year and sixth time in the last 25 years a Brownsboro Bear has brought home the award of Henderson County’s Most Valuable football player.

Last year it was Senior Jason Johnson bringing home the award; this season the award goes to Junior Ryan Epperson.

Epperson set a school record in tackles with 176 on the season, intercepted two passes and was the Bears short yardage back on offense. He

scored 12 touchdowns while rushing for 389 yards this season.

Also bringing home a superlative award was Cameron Warren and head coach John Settle.

Warren was named the Henderson County Newcomer of the year. As a freshman Warren rushed for 508 yards scoring four touchdowns. On defense Warren recorded 133 tackles and scored once on a fumble recovery.

In his fourth year as Athletic Director and Head football coach John Settle received his second award for Henderson County Coach of the year. Settle also received the award last season after leading the Bears to the playoffs and finishing the season with an 8-3 record.

man while Dustin Wilson (defensive back), Chris Cumby (line) and Clayton Boyd (line) all earned a spot on the second team defense.

Every Brownsboro player that made either the first or second team is a senior. Overall Brownsboro locked up 20 spots on the All Henderson County team.

Rounding out the team for the Bears 5 players earned honorable mention. Those players were Jared Edwards, Brad Kern, Landon Trammel, Dusty Pool and Jonathon Wilson.

The Henderson County Area Football team was selected by the Athens Daily Review/Cedar Creek Pilot sports staff, based upon nominations by coaches at Henderson County area high schools. Only players nominated by the coaches were considered for the team.

Quarterback Wesley Starkes of Athens was named the offensive player of the year while Forest Elder, also of Athens, was named the defensive player of the year. Sophomore of the year was Kolton Browning of Mabank.
