Sermon July 29th: A Kingdom Minded Church is a Prayerful Church

-Ezekiel 32:30-31

"Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths." -Psalms 25:4

Ms. Megan Frederick filled in for vacationing Ken Reid, and led the congregation in the hymns as well as singing a solo. It was great to see her smiling face and hearing her beautiful voice again. We missed Megan when she went off to college.

The CUMC KIDS - Summer Missions program is still going strong. This program has been one of the most interesting activities for the Children's Sunday school classes. Last Sunday the children made prayer beads and learned how they are used during prayer. This Sunday Dennis and Shirley Murray will be leading the children in a prayer walk. The weeks in August will wrap up this special program, by focusing on building health kits for the UMCOR and how to be good stewards by cleaning up around the church facilities.

Vacation Bible School starts August 5 through August 10, at 5 p.m. for dinner and 6 to 8:30 p.m. for classes. Registration may be made from the Web site chandlerfumc.org or Email: chandlerfumc@yahoo.com. All children wishing to learn about Jesus are welcomed.

The Bible study classes are being finalized for the coming fall. Please pray about your participation in the various studies this year. When learning and studying in small groups one is reminded of the original Churches, often where a few families and friends met to study the Bible and grow in their knowledge of the Word. "Why all this stress on behavior? Because, as I think you have realized, the present time is of the highest importance, it is time to wake up to reality. Every day brings God's salvation nearer." -Romans 13:11

Fifteen children and adult leaders will be attending Church Camp this week, so keep them in your prayers that they will be safe and well during this time. And may they experience plentiful joy, happiness and the wonderful blessing of our Savior during this experience.

Remember Saturday, July 28th: 8 till 4 p.m. the quilting group will meet in Fellowship Hall. For information about this activity, call Sue Hogan.

1:00 till 3 p.m. the Praise Team will meet in the sanctuary. This group will also meet for an all-day workshop on August 4th. For additional information call Pastor Russ Munch.

The Bread of Life group will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall August 31st. Everyone interested in making bread or learning how to make bread are welcome. Each individual will make two loaves of bread, one for their family and one for a new friend.

The 5K Fun Run and/or Walk is scheduled for August 18th, so start training. Dr. Cherry has asked for assistants during this activity. If you are interested in volunteering as a helper during the run, please call Dr. Cherry.

Happy Anniversary to: Jerry and Carolyn Bradley, Robert and Ruthie Callaway, Bob and Vicki Bradbeer, and Charles and Karen McHam. "Can two walk together, except they are agreed?" -Amos 3:3

Happy Birthday to: Russell Rowe, Wanda Gamble, Tony Hays, Renee Jordan, Scott Lackey, S.A. Pollard, Camper Cade, and Will Grantham. "Ye looked for much, and lo, it came too little." -Haggai 1:9

Thought of the Week: "Let no one say when he is tempted, `I am being tempted by God,' for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death." -James 1:13-15
