60th Anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Thomison

Rev. J.W. and Hazel Thomison recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married January 1, 1947 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

J.W. was ordained in the ministry in 1952 with the Assemblies of God. He pastored churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and moved to Athens, Texas in 1965 where he pastored the First Assembly of God Church for ten years, then to Barton’s Chapel Assembly, Murchison, for another ten years.

After retiring he served as Associate Pastor at Crystal Rock Cathedral, Lighthouse Assembly of God in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and in 1998

moved to First Assembly of God, Chandler, Texas, where he continues to serve as Associate Pastor.

They have two sons, James Thomison and wife Dana, Chandler and Rev. Terry Thomison, who is the current pastor at Barton’s Chapel and his wife Darla, a daughter, Teresa Munns and husband, Jeff of Athens, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The couple was surprised with an anniversary party in their Sunday School class.

Their family honored them with a New Year’s dinner at James and Dana Thomison’s home in Chandler.
