St. Boniface Catholic Church
by Sue Beams

Members of St. Boniface celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany on Sunday. In his message, Fr. James explained the meaning of the word "epiphany" as manifestation. The gift of the 3 Wise Men were symbols. The Gold represents the Kingship of Jesus Christ, and also represents our fidelity and loyalty. The Frankincense represents the Divinity of Jesus Christ, and also represents prayer and adoration. The Myrrh represents the Humanity of Jesus Christ, and also our pain and suffering. Our challenge as Christians is to manifest the reality of our Lord Jesus Christ to our fellow human beings. Unless we know him, we cannot manifest him.

Refreshments were served following the Sunday morning Mass. We welcome all visitors to join us.

We are working on the budget for 2007. Committees need to submit their funding requirements for this year to the Finance Council. Please provide the information to Dr. Liptak by Jan. 14.

There will be a Pastoral Council meeting on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 pm.

Thanks and congratulations to the Fund Raising Committee for the monies raised in the sale of tamales and candles. Both projects were a success and we appreciate the efforts of Dalia Earl and Virginia Rameriz and everyone who supported their efforts. Great Job!!

With the holidays over, please don't forget about the collection boxes in the Community Center. There is still a need to be generous. God bless you and your generosity.

Don't forget the line dancing instructions on the first, second and fourth Saturday following the 5pm Mass. Great fun was had by those who attended the first class.

Congratulations and best wishes to all those who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Please pray for those in our parish who are sick and suffering. Remember the souls of the faithful departed. We ask our Heavenly Father to protect the men and women in the Armed Forces who defend us with honor and bravery.

May the Lord bless and keep you in the week ahead.
