Sub-Varsity Basketball JV Bearettes The tradition continues with the JV Bearettes as they dominated their opponents last week to improve their season record to 17-2. Brownsboro's JV Bearettes have lost just 10 regular season games since 2000. Last Friday the Bearettes defeated Van in Van 53-33. Sabrina Bradley led the Bearettes in scoring with 20 points. LeCandace Bell scored 18 points. Winning the Bearette Tournament the girls defeated Eustace and Lindale. Eustace was no match for the Bearettes as they won 47-10 with Bradley leading all scorers with 19 points.
In their second game of the tournament the Bearettes walked past Lindale with a 34- 14 win. Bradley again led the Bearettes in scoring with 19 points. Freshman Bearettes Without a game during the normal week the Freshman Bearettes had to wait until Saturday to play ball. In their first game of the week the Bearettes blew past Eustace winning 30-7. Catie Collins led the girls in scoring with 17 points. Chelsea Chambers and Jessica Caviness each had threes. In their second game of the tournament the Bearettes got off to a slow start. Lindale led 17-11 at the half before the Bearettes rallied back in the fourth period. Outscoring Lindale 18-7 in the final period the Bearettes won the Tournament Championship by one point 35-34. Leading the Bearettes in scoring in the championship game was Chelsea Chambers with 18 points. Chambers nailed 3 three pointers. Brownsboro improved their record to 10-5 on the season with the tournament wins.
The Bearettes are scheduled to play against Canton Friday. With just one more game until district play begins as of Monday the JV Bears record stands at 12-4. Last week the Bears defeated Eustace 64-38 in Brownsboro as James Thomas led the team in scoring with 17 points. Hitting the road last Friday the Bears lost in Crandall by the score of 51-42. Broox Nichelson led the Bears in scoring with 14 points. During the Christmas break the Bears lost to Edgewood 63-43 in Edgewood as Charlie Stringer led the Bears with 15 points. Jeremy Monroe and Nichelson each hit a three. Also during the break the Bears took part in the Wills Point Tournament winning one game and losing two. The Bears lone win came against Van by the score of 53-22. James Thomas led the Bears in scoring with 12 points. Keith Johnson also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points.
Brownsboro will be in Canton this Friday to open district play. Game time begins approxitmatly 5:00pm. |
