St. Boniface Catholic Church The Second Sunday in Ordinary Time was celebrated at St. Boniface with the reading of the Gospel according to John. In the second chapter, we are told of the first public miracle of Jesus, the changing of the water into wine. Jesus at first was hesitant to begin His "time of miracles." He saw the need and heeded his mother's request. Thus began his public demonstration of His heaven-sent power. It says that "... His disciples believed that He really was the Messiah." As Catholics we believe in the majesty and power and glory of Christ, Our Lord. We know He is capable of working miracles in our lives. We believe it because it is so. Parishioners warmed up with coffee and refreshments following Mass. There are too many warm hearts at St. Boniface to let the chill in! On January 28, 2007, following the 9:30 Mass, breakfast will be served in the community center. This is the first "fundraising" project of the New Year. Eggs and sausage will be served for $5 per adult and $2.50 for children. Please mark your calendars and plan on staying for breakfast. Calling all cooks! On February 10th we will have a chili cookoff following the 5:00 Mass. Get your recipes ready and listen up for more details on the rules, etc. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We pray for all those who are ill. Remember in prayer, the faithful departed. We ask our Heavenly Father to continue to protect the brave men and women who serve in the armed services. May he hold them in the palm of His hand during the upcoming deployments. Try to stay dry and well ... have a blessed week! |
