Three Brownsboro powerlifters earn first place
The body heat of the students participating in the 2007 Brownsboro Invitational Powerlifting Meet was enough to warm up the entire gym. Students from Athens, Lindale, Bullard, Eustace, Daingerfield, Nacogdoches, Kemp, Timberview, New Diana, Pine Tree, John Tyler, Rice, Gladewater, Canton and of course Brownsboro participated in the event. Several Brownsboro participants did well during the Invitational including reigning State Super Heavy Weight Champion Oran Lewis. Lewis captured first place in the Super Heavy Weight (SHW) division with a total lift of 1,755lbs. Lewis squatted 740lbs, benched 380 and dead lifted 635lbs. Oran's closest competition finished more than 300lbs behind him. Also capturing first place in the Men's division for the Bears was Walter Guthrie in the 198lb class. Guthrie lifted a total of 1,285lbs, five pounds more than second place. Guthrie benched 315lbs, squatted 450lbs and deadlifted 520lbs.
Other Brownsboro powerlifters competing well in the event were Nelson Icenhower, Sean Tadlock, Brad Kern, Jared Bray, Will Jones, Monty Shultz, Taylor Green, Holli Airheart, Tonya Kiker, Gwen Godwin, Heather Blakely, Kelsey Masters, Randi Smith, Whitney Green, Whitney Faulkner and Haley Suggs. Kiker finished second in the 132lb weight class with a total lift of 605lbs. Kiker benched 115, squatted 265 and deadlifted 225lbs. Kiker finished 70lbs behind first place. Kiker did have the highest squat in her weight class. |
