Freshman Bears are dominating the competition There have been eight games played since the last time the Freshman Bears made the pages of The Statesman. In those eight games the Bears won a tournament championship and started District 14-3A play. So how did the Bears fare in eight games? They smashed their opponents to the score of 450-278 winning all eight games. Brownsboro started off the win streak defeating Edgewood 61-17 as Cameron Warren led the boys in scoring with 18 points. Following the blowout of Edgewood the Bears marched up again against Edgewood in the Wills Point Tournament. In a closer contest the Bears defeated Edgewood 50-41 as Jacob McCarthy led the Bears in scoring with 11 points. Brownsboro followed up their back to back wins over Edgewood with a two point victory over Wills Point to advance to the championship round against Mexia. Thanks to a very defensive fourth period the Bears defeated Mexia 46-43 to win the Wills Point Tournament crown. Jacob McCarthy nailed 3 three pointers as part of his 21 points in the championship game. Returning to regular season play the Bears dominated Eustace to the tune of 70-19 in Brownsboro. Three Bears scored in double figures as McCarthy paced the Bears with 17 points. McCarthy nailed 3 threes once again. Cameron Warren scored 18 points as the Bears rolled past Crandall 59-43 in Crandall. McCarthy scored 13 points leading the Bears to a 51-39 win over Mabank before starting district play. In their first district contest of the season the Bears showed they are a top candidate for the district crown as they defeated Canton by the score of 58-23. No Bear scored in double figures but three Bears scored nine points in the win.
With the eight wins the Bears improve their season record to 17-1, and 1-0 in District 14-3A play. |
