Bearettes win one, loose another
Brownsboro walks past Chapel Hill before falling to Canton on Friday

After loing their first district game in more than 3 years the Bearettes rallied back to defeat the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs last Tuesday night in Brownsboro.

Brownsboro opened the game outscoring the `Dogs 22-8 in the first period of play. That 14 point difference proved to be enough as the Bearettes rolled to win 57-44.

Bianca Mosley led the charge for the Bearettes with 15 points. Chelsey Chimney and Malleri McGee also scored in double figures for the Bearettes in the win.

Following their win at home the Bearettes traveled to Canton last Friday to take on the 20-3 Eaglettes.

The Bearettes won the opening tip and the battle for the first period by outscoring Canton 9-6. Brownsboro's first field goal of the first period came with 2 minutes to play as each team played well on defense.

Also during the first period of play Brownsboro's Bianca Mosley picked up her third foul, forcing her to set the rest of the first half.

Canton rallied back in the second period outscoring the Bearettes 16-3 to take a 22-12 lead into the half. Canton's press defense held the Bearettes scoreless the final 4 minutes of the first half.

With Mosley back on the floor the Bearettes rallied in the third period. Brownsboro outscored the Eagelettes 16- 13 in the period to draw within 8 points entering the final period.

In the fourth period the Bearettes quickly scored to move within four points of Canton. After an Eagelette time out Canton took advantage of two missed shots by Brownsboro to regain an eight point lead.

Brownsboro was not done yet as the Bearettes continued to fight and once again found themselves within four points, this time with only :37 seconds remaining.

With a chance to draw within two the Bearettes missed two free throw attempts with :32 seconds remaining.

Still within four points with six seconds remaining the Bearettes hopes were still alive as they were on the free throw line. Both shots were missed and Canton rebound the ball and was fouled.

Canton hit both free throws to ice the game for the Eagelettes, 48-41.

Overall the Bearettes shot 14 of 31 from the free throw line. Bianca Mosley scored 14 second half points to lead the Bearettes in scoring.

With their second District 14-3A loss the Bearettes season record falls to 9-12 and 1- 2 in district play.

Brownsboro will host Athens at home on Friday night with an estimated tip off time of 6:00pm. Athens defeated Canton in their district opener and Van on Friday.
