Lake Palestine United Methodist Church to host Spiritual Growth event

This Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27, Lake Palestine United Methodist Church will be hosting a Spiritual Growth event entitled "Becoming New."

Music will be provided by "Peculiar People," from Rusk. A registration fee of $20 covers lunch Saturday, all snacks and associated fees. Childcare is available by reservation ($20 per child, includes lunch on Saturday).

Times are Friday 6pm- 9:30pm, and Saturday, 8:30am-4:00pm.

Becoming New...

...is an opportunity to begin or renew a journey of spiritual growth that will enrich our lives as a community of faith around Lake Palestine. The beauty of the lake setting is a sign of the glorious works of God in our very midst. In response to this majestic display of God's work we are called to grow our relationship with our Creator and with our neighbor.

Becoming New...

...is designed to assist us in answering that call to grow in recognizing God's presence in our midst...in our very being! Through the leadership of our guide Kathy Reiter, we will be challenged to develop and practice "quiet time" and listen for God's loving voice giving us comfort in our pains, guidance for our future, and peace in our daily lives.

Becoming New...

...will encourage us all to let our vessels be filled with the presence and glory of God. For those of us who are tired and weary, we will be encouraged to become "fresh wineskins, " leaving the old vessels of the past behind and being filled anew.

Becoming New... ...will encourage us to take a fresh look at our world and see within it the hand of God working in all our lives. We will see the sacred in many more things than ever before. And when we allow these things to be transformed in our minds from the mundane to the sacred, our souls will be filled with awe and majesty of the Holy One who continually calls us to be in relationship with Him.

...will encourage us to become closer to our Lord and Saviour through a journey that begins with the first step... the step of setting time apart for God.

We hope to see you, as we, ourselves, take more steps on our journey to become more like our Lord, grow our spiritual nature, and become new.
