St. Boniface Catholic Church On the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, members of St. Boniface learned of the Isaiah prophecy fulfilled as read by Jesus in today's Gospel. Jesus is the Liberator. He calls us to share with our fellow man the freedom and love of the Lord. We are asked to work for the betterment of the community and love of God. Every individual is a part of the Body of Christ (the Church). No one is better than the other. We all have our contribution to make. Make use of your individual gifts and talents to build up the community, working as one. Though we are the followers of Christ, we are still in bondage; bad habits, addictions, hatred, slander, gossip, discord, discontent, and malice toward one another to name a few. If the Spirit of the Lord is in us and with us, we CAN continue His works by being family; with respect, without judgment. We should have an open heart to welcome the Spirit of God into our lives. The Knights of Columbus placed a single white rose at the altar Sunday as a memorial to the 208 babies killed each day by abortion in Texas. This is in conjunction with the 34th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion in the United States. Members found an insert in Sunday's bulletin on the St. Boniface 2007 Church Plan Objectives. The Pastoral Council approved the new objectives based on the Church survey. We need your help to accomplish YOUR requirements for our Church success. Please sign up on any of the new committees on the list provided in the Community Center. On January 28th following Mass, there will be a breakfast plate served. Eggs, sausage, bacon, toast and gravy will be offered for $5/adults and $2.50/children. There will be a meeting for all committee leaders or representative on Saturday February 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Mark your calendars for the Chili Cook-off to be held on Feb. 10 following the 5pm Mass. Calling all cooks ... enter your best pot of chili to win the Trophy and bragging rights!! This is another of the fundraising committee's clever ways to bring the community together and put money in the general fund! See next week's bulletin for more details. Don't forget, we are on the web!!! htpp//home.earthlink.net/ ~stbonctxwebpage/ Check it out! Congratulations and best wishes to all those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We pray for comfort for all who are sick and suffering. Remember, too, all the faithful departed; may they rest in the Peace of the Lord. We also continue to pray for those in the armed services that our Heavenly Father will hold them safe from harm in the palm of His hands. Have a good week! |
