Bay City man overturns pick up truck in creek

The Bay City man who overturned his vehicle and landed in a creek south of Coffee City walked away from the accident a little wet, but unscathed last Thursday morning.

Richard Anthony Surritt, 49, was northbound on Farm-to-Market Road 315 in a 2000 Chevrolet pick up truck, when as he approached a curve to the left, trav- eled off the east side of the roadway, flipped over and came to a rest on the driver's side in a creek, according to a report by DPS Trooper James Martin.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m., about 8/10 of a mile south of the Coffee City city limits.

Precinct 3 Constable David Grubbs, arrived on the scene to find Surritt had climbed out of his truck and was removing his possessions from the cab.

Also assisting in the accident were first responders from Westside, Poynor and Brownsboro Volunteer Fire Departments, and Coffee City police.

Surritt was checked out at the scene by EMS, but refused transport to the hospital.
