Sub-Varsity Basketball

JV Bearettes

In a very hard fought contest the JV Bearettes fell to Bullard last Tuesday night 48-44. LeCandace Bell led the Bearettes in scoring with 18 points.

After suffering their first district loss the Bearettes rallied back to destroy Athens 63-26. Sabrina Bradley led Brownsboro in scoring with 23 points.

The Bearettes are 20-3 on the season and 4-1 in district play.

Freshman Bearettes

With just one game last week the freshman Bearettes made the most of it, blowing out Bullard 42-17.

Chelsea Chambers led the Bearettes in scoring with 11 points. Catie Collins added 9 for the victorious Bearettes.

Freshman Bears

No played scored in double figures for the Bears but nine players scored in the Bears 51-23 route of Bullard last Tuesday night.

Leading the charge for the Bears was Zack Bailey with 8 points. Jacob McCarthy had a three pointer as part of his 7 points in the win. Jonathan Thompson also had 7 points.

Brownsboro lost their first district game by one point, 48-47 to Athens last Friday.

McCarthy nailed 3 three pointers to lead the team in scoring with 15 points. Cameron Warren (14) and Brett Ralson (11) also scored in double figures for Brownsboro.

The Bears record on the season is 18-2 overall and 2- 1 in district play.

JV Bears

In a surprising twist the JV Bears lost back to back games last week for the first time all season.

Playing in Bullard on Tuesday the Bears lost 66-37 as Broox Nichelson led the boys in scoring with 10 points.

In Brownsboro on Friday the Bears could not hold a third period lead as they lost by the score of 52-44. Charlie Stringer led the team in scoring with 15 points. Jeremy Monroe, Trent Richards and Nichelson all had three pointers.

With the back to back losses the Bears fall to 14-6 on the season and 1-2 in district play.

BJHS Bearettes

Led by Hillary Shaffer with 33 tournament points the 8th grade Bearettes "A" team won the Eustace Tournament.

Brownsboro defeated Malakoff 50-8 and Cross Roads 27-18 to win the tournament crown. Last week the Bearettes edged Canton 28-24 in district action. The 8th grade "B" team lost to Canton 10-8.

Also playing in the Eustace Tournament was the 7th grade "A" team. Brownsboro defeated Malakoff 31-20 before losing to Cayuga 35-15. With two players in double figures scoring the "A" team defeated Canton 42-15 last Thursday. The 7th grade "B" team defeated Canton 14-4.
