West Lake Baptist News "Facing The Giants" - The film was shown this last Sunday night at WLBC with a crowd of over 400 in attendance. Throughout the film, we enjoyed an inspiring time of laughter, tears, and climactic rounds of applause throughout the movie. We'd like to thank all of those who were in attendance, and encourage those who haven't seen the film to watch it, upon it's release to DVD. Though this was an officially licensed public showing of the film in cooperation with Provident Films, it will soon be released on video/DVD for private-in home viewings. "The Super Bowl Of Singing " A special afternoon service will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, 3:00pm - 4:00pm, featuring several southern gospel singing groups from the East Texas Area. "A Chord Of Three," from Canton (comprised of one high school student and two college students- the group has a sound much like the popular southern gospel group- "The Martins"; Tenor, Mark Freed, from Kilgore; and Rick Daily, who will feature Bluegrass/Gospel music. You're invited to attend this one hour event on Super Bowl Sunday. There is no admission charge. GA Sleepover: At Camp Jericho on Friday, February 2, at 6:00pm, until noon Sat., Feb. 3. Carolyn Lance is the GA Director. "The Singing Men Of East Texas" will be in concert at WLBC on Thurs., Feb. 22. V.B.B.S : The Very Best Bible School, for seniors 55+, was held last week Monday through Wednesday, in the fellowship hall with Johnny Beard serving as the guest Bible teacher. The group enjoyed great Bible teaching, crafts, food and did needed projects around the church. Food Bank: The WLBC Mission West Lake Food Bank will be in operation Wed., Feb. 7, 10am - 2:00pm. Baby Shower: A gift card/ money tree baby shower for Laura Nicolardi, Sun., Feb. 11, following the morning Service, until 2:00pm, in the Fellowship Hall. Laura is one of our instrumentalists and soloists, and her husband Clayton is the lead usher. Choir Concert: The Breckenridge Village Choir will do a mini concert at West Lake Baptist Church, Sun., Feb. 11, at 6:30pm. Breckenridge Village, which was built by the Baptist Men Builders, is a Baptist facility for mildly mentally disabled adults. The facility has 50 Residents and staff with tastefully appointed homes with each home having house parents. A meal will be provided to the choir after the concert: "A Week-End to Remember: This Family Life Marriage Conference will be in Grapevine, March 23-25. A group of couples from WLBC will be attending. Contact Cindy Fowler for information. Evangels Sunday School Class: Meets Feb. 1, at 2:00pm in the Agape Room. Brotherhood Breakfast: Sat., Feb. 3, at 8:00am, in Fellowship Hall. |
