1st Baptist Church of Chandler

Wow! This is it!! Super Bowl Week!! There is something about a Super Bowl that seems to attract even those who do not care much for football. This Super Bowl has two very outstanding features: one, it is the first Super Bowl ever to have an African American coach and we have not just one, but both coaches are; and secondly and far more important is that both of these coaches are Christian men. They have openly expressed their beliefs and we, as fellow Christians need to recognize just how bold a step this is. If you or I announce publicly that we are a Christian, we will probably just get a "so what?" from those around us. But in their positions, it could have jeopardized their careers. These men not only profess their Christianity, they live it. We can learn from their examples.

Speaking of the Super Bowl, don't forget this Sunday, Feb. 4, we are planning a special "tail gate party" starting at 3pm, in the fellowship hall. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the trimmings!! Afterwards, we will adjourn to the sanctuary to watch the Super Bowl on the screen. (Snacks and soft drinks only in the sanctuary, please.) There will be a special area where we have covered the carpeting with plastic so that we can enjoy some light snacks with the game. During the halftime, we will have a very special Evangelistic speaker (sorry, it is a surprise) who will provide us with a good devotional message. The great news is that this is OPEN TO EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY!!! Come join us for a wonderful day of fun, fellowship and football. We welcome everyone to our party.

Starting on Feb. 11, we will begin some very special evening study groups and classes. These will be open to all, however, some are very limited in size and do require pre-registration. Sign up today in the main entry way so that you can reserve your spot in the class. The classes include: CLASS 101 (a new members class); Crown Financial Ministries; Marriage- From Surviving to Thriving; and Living a Life of Prayer. We will also continue to have a general session of teaching and preaching. Come join us at 6pm for one of these classes.

Do you have a church home? If not, we welcome you to join us any Sunday morning at 9:45am, for Sunday School and at 11am, for our morning worship. Please come join us anytime. Our Sunday evening services are held at 6pm, and our Wednesday evening services begin at 6:30pm. We would love to have you join us.
