Three BHS educators named Outstanding American Teachers

Outstanding American Teachers R. Elaine Wesley, Cindy Lynn Pleasant, and Robin Featherson Ereman
Three Brownsboro High School teachers recently received the prestigious honor of being inducted into National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teachers.

Robin Featherson Ereman, R. Elaine Wesley, and Cindy Lynn Pleasant were nominated by their students as having had the greatest influence on their lives, either as a student or as an individual.

Robin Featherson Ereman, started her teaching career at Brownsboro High January 1996, and teaches Algebra I and II, Algebra II Pre-AP, and College Algebra. Since 2000 she has served as head of the math department.

She graduated as class valedictorian from BHS in 1978, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Tyler in December 1995. She then went on to earn her certification in math.

Mrs. Ereman serves as a number sense sponsor for the school's UIL program, as well as a senior class sponsor.

R. Elaine Wesley has 31 years of accumulated teaching experience, 15 of those years at Brownsboro High in the English Department teaching 9th grade Pre AP, 10th grade Tech, local honors, 11th grade regular English and Tech Honors, 12th grade Tech Honors and Workforce English/ Entrepreneurship.

She was a Teacher of the Year nominee for the East Texas Adult Education Coop, and is one of the organizing members of the Literacy Council of Tyler. She served on the BISD Bond Committee for Building Construction, and the Adopt-a-Highway.

Mrs. Wesley sponsors the BHS National Honor Society, and UIL Spelling. She also serves on the Reading Curriculum Development for TAAS, and English Curriculum Development for TAKS committees, as well as the BISD District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC), and the Campus Education Improvement Committee (CEIC).

She is a graduate of Texas A & M Commerce with a Bachelor's in Science. She double majored in English and Journalism.

Mrs. Wesley graduated as class valedictorian from high school.

Cindy Lynn Pleasant attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and NLU in Monroe, now known as University of Louisiana at Monroe, and graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education.

Her teaching minor is English. She taught four years in Pasadena, Texas.

Following a 12 year leave of absence to raise her children, she returned to teaching 11 years ago - one year at Athens High School and the last 10 years at Brownsboro High. She taught mathematics at all of her teaching positions.

She currently teaches Algebra, Pre Calculus, and AP Calculus, and serves as UIL math sponsor. She is also a senior class sponsor.

She graduated as class valedictorian from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Louisiana.

NHR's Outstanding American Teachers is an organization that recognizes educators who have made a difference in their communities. Inductees in the NHR's Outstanding American teachers have received an honor shared by a very small percentage of all U.S. Teachers.
