Marie Garlington Saylors

Services for Marie Garlington Saylors, 83, of Athens, Texas, were held Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Gordon- Foster-Brown Chapel. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.

Mrs. Saylors was born September 12, 1923 in Fastrill, Texas, to Osco and May Garlington. She passed away January 22, 2007 in South Place Nursing Center, Athens.

She came to Henderson County in 1939 and lived here for 68 years. She worked as a waitress and was a member of Barton's Chapel Assembly in Murchison, Texas. On June 19, 1940 she married Bob Saylors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Saylors, her parents, and a sister, Reba Carpenter.

Survivors include son, Frank Saylors, Eastland, Tx, daughters, Sue Hurst, Longview, Tx, and Barbara Williams and hus- band Ray of Murchison, Tx; granddaughters, Lisa Von Spreecken and husband Gale; and Katrina Cook; grandsons, Eddie McDade, Randy McDade and wife Karen, Kyle Saylors and wife Erica; Kenny Saylors, and Brent Williams and wife Danielle; great-grandchildren,, Jonathan Von Spreecken, Justin Von Spreecken, Austin McDade, Hunter McDade, Drew Cook, Cody Cook, Alyssa Cook, Brendan Williams and Trinity Williams.

Serving as pallbearers were Ray Williams, Brent Williams, Eddie McDade, Randy McDade, Kyle Saylors, Kenny Saylors, Gale Von Spreecken, and Kevin Head.

Honorary pallbearers (greatgrandsons) were Jonathan Spreecken, Justin Von Spreecken, Drew Cook, Cody Cook, Austin McDade, Hunter McDade, and Brendan Williams.
