Chandler F.U.M.C.
by Linda G. Keeling

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love - Revelation 2:4

First Love Revival is almost here. The prayer tracks continue to be laid. February 11 many have signed up for the day of prayer, covering this meeting. February 14 the Chandler UMC will be open from 6am to 6pm for concentrated prayer for Jennifer and for those attending. Jennifer Kennedy Dean speaks Feb. 16-18 at the Chandler UMC. This is an invitation she gives in her book Live a Praying Life.

The key to being able to receive all that God longs to give is to have a heart that is fully His. When His desires are in our hearts, His words rise from us as prayer. Our job is to allow the Son of God the access He needs to each of our hearts so He can cleanse them of debris. The clutter in our hearts throws off its acoustics. Acoustics are defined as "the qualities that determine the ability of an enclosure to reflect sound waves in such a way as to produce distinct hearing." How are your heart's acoustics? Does God need to do some renovation? Does He need to tear down some walls? Clear out some rubbish? Haul away some wreckage? Clean out some corners?

Time to take advantage of this special time with God is drawing to a close. We need you to register so we can prepare effectively. Registration is $25 a person for non-members and $25 a couple/$15 singles for Chandler UMC members. Pre-registration is necessary for preparation. You may get a registration form at the church office or call Sandy Dinsmore at 903- 849-3887 for more information. Contributed by Shirley McMurray.

Have you ever read a book that you were so impressed by that you wanted all your friends to read it as well? When we experience a truly meaningful experience we want to share with all our loved ones. That is the way I feel about the Discipline Bible studies. I can understand why it may be impossible for some to take the 9- month study. That is why it is so great that Martha Copeland and Judy Boehm are offering the short version of the Old Testament, starting Feb. 26 to April 30 at 10am.

Remember the Boy Scout barbecue is next Sunday. They will start serving after Sunday school for those attending early service.

Happy Anniversary to Charles and Dee Curtis, Gene and Helen Giger, James and Lou Griffin, Dennis and Shirley Murray, and Benny and Barbara Westbrooks. That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding. Colossians 2:2

Happy Birthday to Mark Hockman, Ruth Cummings, Jake Hutchins, Russell Bradford, Erik Hemingway, Robert Robinson, Dorothy McHam, Marc McGill, James McDonald, and Norman Lay. Remember, "you can get old pretty young if you don't take care of yourself." --Yogi Berra

Thought for the Week: "There are only two kinds of people in the end; those who say to God "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, in the end, "Thy will be done." -- C.S. Lewis
