Poynor benefit a success

The city of Poynor, Frankston Healthcare Center, and The Country Gents wish to express their appreciation to all who made the February 1, benefit for the city of Poynor a successful occasion. The event was held for disaster relief to help the city recover from the damage it sustained from the tornado in December of 2006.

A little over 100 people came together to enjoy the delicious hamburgers and hot dogs provided by Frankston Healthcare Center, and side dishes and desserts brought by various volunteers.

Those who attended the event also took pleasure in listening and dancing to the good music provided by The Country Gents and many talented guest musicians. Chock Chitty do- nated CDs he has recorded to be sold, with all proceeds to be added to the donations made for the food.

The donations totaled $1,291.07. They are designated for use to aid in recovery from the storm damage in Poynor, to be distributed by the city council. There are still many needs to be met and much damage to be repaired.

If anyone who was unable to attend would like to make a contribution, there is a fund set up for Poynor disaster relief at First State Bank in Frankston.
