"Heart of the Orient" 2007 Heart Ball

Athens - - -"Heart of the Orient" is the theme for the 2007 Henderson County Heart Ball.

The Ball will be held Saturday, February 17, 2007 from 7 PM - 12:00 AM at Athens Country Club.

The event raises funds for the American Heart Association and is the single largest source of income for the AHA in Henderson County.

Co-chairing the 2007 Ball is Amy Gould and Tere Lawyer.

"We are honored to chair the event and thank the citizens of Henderson County for their overwhelming support," said Gould and Lawyer.

Mars Hill of Dallas will provide entertainment for the evening.

"Mars Hill is a highly sought, high energy band and we are sure guests will appreciate their variety of music," Lawyer said.

The evening will also feature Asian cuisine, live auction, raffle, Art for Heart silent auction, "Sake and Silver " and "Chopsticks for Charity."

Dress for the occasion is after five/Oriental flare optional.

"Once again we are grateful to East Texas Medical Center, Athens for their generous sponsorship," Gould said.

The American Heart Association works to reduce and ultimately eradicate the leading cause of death - heart disease and the third leading cause of death - stroke.

The American Heart Association strongly believes that learning more about these diseases is the best way to reduce disability and death.

That's why research is an association-wide priority. Since 1949, the AHA has spent almost $3 billion on research to increase our knowledge about cardiovascular disease and stroke.

"Through fundraising events such as `Heart of the Orient,' we are able to raise much needed funds for the AHA and increase public awareness of the AHA," said Tere Lawyer. "We hope the community will join us as we raise funds and awareness."
