BHS UIL Academic Team compete at Lindale & REL
      Members of the Brownsboro High School UIL Academic Team have been burning the midnight oil lately competing in area tournaments. On Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 and 27, twenty-one students traveled to Lindale High School to compete in a variety of academic contests.

      Any sports website, TV show or newscast was a buzz last Wednesday with high school news as it was the first day high school players could sign letters of intent to play sports in college. On the big day four Bears signed on the dotted lines after a stellar football career.

Bearettes fall to Athens in finale
      In their final game of the regular season the Bearettes fell on the road, to Athens. With the loss the Bearettes record on the season dropped to 13-15 and 5-5 in District 14-3A play. Athens finished an undefeated district campaign with the 49-36 victory.

Bearettes fall to Crandall in Bi-District Round of the playoffs
      The Crandall Lady Pirates were too much for the Bearettes to handle on Monday as Crandall rolled to a 48-36 victory at TVCC in Athens. With the game moved from Malakoff to Athens the Bearettes seemed to have a slight home court advantage despite being named the visiting team.

Close contests result in split
Bears edge Athens Tuesday, before falling to Van on Friday
      Controlling their own playoff hopes the Bears opened District 14-3A play last week with a record of 5- 3 desiring to improve their playoff chances. Playing in Athens on Tuesday night the Bears did improve their chance at a playoff berth by defeating the Hornets for the second time this season.
