BISD closes schools for remainder of the week

The outbreak of flu-like symptoms has forced the closing of all Brownsboro ISD schools for the remainder of the week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14 through 16.

BISD Superintendent Elton Caldwell said about 470 students are absent from class due to illness.

All Little Dribblers coaches have been asked to cancel practices and games for the rest of the week.

With TAKS testing scheduled for Feb. 20 through 23, Caldwell said closing the school was the best way to clear up the illnesses in time.

"We've got TAKS next week, and we've got to have them here," he said. "You've got to have 95 percent participation."

Caldwell said while the schools are closed the custodial staff will disinfect all facilities to avoid a second outbreak.
