Public forum & discussion to be held for city ball field The City of Brownsboro is looking for a few good teams, coaches and parents that would like to take advantage of a ball field practically in their own back yard, the city's ball field on Stuart Street in downtown Brownsboro. With the recent construction of the Brownsboro High School baseball-softball complex the city's ball field is no longer used. The city of Brownsboro wants to change all that. On Thursday, February 22, at 6:30 p.m., in the Brownsboro Community Center, on Willow Street, a public forum and discussion will be held for all interested parties regarding youth baseball and softball. Discussion will include forming a park board, proper use, and scheduling of games at the ball field. Each group - tee-ball, little league or pony league would elect two to three people to serve on the board. Brownsboro Mayor Ronny Harris said he envisions expanding use of the park by moving the outfield fence in for extra room to pave a walking/jogging path, open up the field house for picnic tables, and possibly add some playground equipment. The City would provide some maintenance and a fee would be set up to cover the cost of lighting the field. "It certainly will be a benefit to all the kids in the area," Harris said. "It won't be a place for loitering but rather for youths and families to enjoy." Representatives of all teams wishing to use the facility are encouraged to attend the forum. |
