Four Bears participate in National Signing Day
Any sports website, TV show or newscast was a buzz last Wednesday with high school news as it was the first day high school players could sign letters of intent to play sports in college.
On the big day four Bears signed on the dotted lines after a stellar football career.
Lonnie Edwards signed with NCAA Division I, Texas Tech after originally verbally committing to Baylor. Edwards was a four year starter for the Varsity Bears and received just about every first team award this past season.
In his interview with KLTV Edwards stated he hoped to help carry Texas Tech to the Big 12 Championship. Edwards chose Tech due to the coaching staff and players. Also pursuing the 6-5, 300-pound tackle was LSU, Florida and Georgia.
Signing with a NCAA Division II school was Ricco Richards. Richards inked with Midwestern State of the Lone Star Conference.
Midwestern is located in Wichita Falls. Super Bowl champion running back Dominic Rhodes attended MSU before going pro. Richards will play slot receiver for the Mustangs. Richards received a full scholarship as did Edwards.

Last season Midwestern earned a playoff bid coming off a school record 10 win season, and have full expectations to continue to win.
Also heading to a school where Rhodes starred is last years State Powerlifting Champ, Oran Lewis.
Lewis received an 80% scholarship to attend Tyler Junior College. Lewis cited the environment, coaches and recruiting class as reasons he choose TJC.
Another player with NFLties that played at TJC is former Tampa Bay Buccaneers punt returner and wide receiver Karl Williams.
Finally, safety and wide receiver Logan Bryan is headed to Kilgore Junior College as he sets his sights on a Division I school in the next few years.
Bryan is being recruited as an Athlete and could play wide receiver, safety or both for the Rangers. Kilgore has won two National Junior College championships. Logan received a full scholarship to the two-year school.
Holding Bryan back from signing with Sam Houston or SFA was just one point on the ACT. If Bryan improves his ACT score by one point to meet the NCAA's requirement for a D-I school he could very well be in Kilgore just one season before turning heads in the DI circuit. Bryan holds the career interceptions record at Brownsboro with 18.

Kilgore is also a school known for sending athletes to major D-I schools and the NFL.
All four Brownsboro players signing mentioned the schools treated them very well on their visits and also how they felt at home on the trips.
Each of the players entered the Brownsboro High School athletic program in the first year of new Athletic Director John Settle.
More Brownsboro football players are expected to sign with colleges in the upcoming weeks.
