Sub-Varsity Basketball JV Bearettes Another successful Junior Varsity season was wrapped up last Tuesday night as the Bearettes defeated Athens by the score of 66-12 in Athens. Tied for the team lead in scoring against Athens was Sabrina Bradley and LeCandace Bell with 14 points each. Synola Harmon also scored in double figures with 10 points. Bell nailed a three pointer.
The Bearettes finished 25-3 on the season and 9-1 in district play earning the distritct championship. BJHS Bears The Junior High basketball season was concluded last week as the Bears faced off against Van. The 8th grade "A" team lost to Van 37-36 to end the season with a record of 4-10. Corbin Duke led the team in scoring with 12 points. Winning by 13 the 8th grade "B" team beat Van 23-10 to capture second place in district with an overall record of 12-2. In the 7th grade the "A" team won 50-38 as Nick Jones led the team in scoring with 19 points. Keuntis Thompson scored 17 points in the win. The "A" team was 3rd in district with a record of 10-4.
Finally the "B" team edged Van by the score of 24-22 to finish second in district with a record of 11-3. JV Bears It was another rough week for the Junior Varsity Bears last week as they faced Athens and Van. On Tuesday the Bears fell in Athens by the score of 56- 39. Brownsboro was led in scoring by Charlie Stringer with 13 points. Stringer and Trent Richards each had a three pointer. In Van on Friday the Bears took an early first half lead before the Vandals rallied back late in the fourth period. Broox Nichelson led the team in scoring with 15 points. Nichelson and Jeremy Monroe each hit a three for the Bears.
The Bears record is 15-11 on the season and 2-7 in district play. Freshman Bears Continuing to play well the Freshman Bears split their games last week against district opponents. Brownsboro beat Athens 56-43 on Tuesday as Jacob McCarthy led the Bears with 15 points and 3 three pointers. Zack Bailey scored 13 points. On Friday the Bears fell to Van 48-44 after trailing much of the game. McCarthy led the team in scoring with 14 points, hitting a 3-pointer.
The Bears record on the season is 23-3 overall and 7- 2 in district play. |
