Brownsboro First UMC We would like to thank everyone for their prayers while we were away during my mother's continued illness. She has returned to the nursing home and is stable again for the time being. It was great seeing Nettie Jo back with us and hearing Mr. Vernon is getting stronger each day, and Ms. Betty is home. Several were out Sunday due to the virus and illness; they were missed. In Acts 26:2 Paul said, "I think myself happy." He was facing King Agrippa being accused by Jews yet he was happy. Happy to witness despite his trials to all that would hear, placing his life in jeopardy. Paul had the joy of salvation deep in his soul, he stood firm in its roots, his happiness/ joy did not depend on circumstances, but his conviction. I pray I have that happiness that does not depend on circumstances but conviction, that despite my circumstances "I think myself happy," and witness to others the joys of my Jesus. If you are attending church, praise be to God, but if you are not and would like to attend a loving church we would be honored to have you come to ours. Sunday School is at 10:00 and church is at 11:00. God bless. --Glenda Elliott Here is something from Bro. Elliott: A traveler between flights at an airport, went to a lounge and bought a small package of cookies. Then she sat down and began reading a newspaper. Gradually, she became aware of a rustling noise. From behind her paper, she was flabbergasted to see a neatly dressed man helping himself to her cookies. Not wanting to make a scene, she leaned over and took a cookie herself. A minute or two passed, and then came more rustling. He was helping himself to another cookie! By this time, they had come to the end of the package, but she was so angry she didn't dare allow herself to say anything. Then, as if to add insult to injury, the man broke the remaining cookie in two, pushed half across to her, ate the other half, and left. Still fuming sometime later when her flight was announced, the woman opened her handbag to get her ticket. To her shock and embarrassment, there she found her pack of unopened cookies! How wrong our assumptions can be. We should not act or react out of assumption. Also remember, the devil is perfectly willing for a person to profess Christianity so long as the person does not practice it. See you in church Sunday! - Bro. Ernest |
