Today's Girl is an educational program for today's girls which provides guidance for the development of tomorrow's leaders. Our goal is to offer a positive environment that allows today's girls to develop poise, self-confidence and character, while developing their leadership skills. Today's Girl is a scholarship based program which encourages the development of talent, academic achievement and an awareness of the need to improve their social environment through community service. To meet this quest, Today's Girl sponsors pageants wherein each girl who wins a title, must participate in community service projects in order to qualify for a State Overall Title each year. Several girls from the Brownsboro/Chandler area have won state titles including the 2006 Today's Girl Overall Miss Queen, Taylor Jackson. The East Texas Area Preliminary is one of the numerous Today's Girl competitions held throughout the states of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Wyoming, Alabama and Florida. Preliminary winners will be invited to represent their respective areas at the State competition to be held in Texas in 2007. Today's Girl has recently been selected by the President of the United States as a certifying organization for the Presidential Points of Light Volunteer Organization. As such, Today's Girls will do community service throughout the year and at the end of the year, may be awarded a Presidential Pin and Certificate. To help our East Texas area Girls attain their community service requirement for the State Pageant, we are asking that girls and members of the audience bring a donation for Allen Jaynes, a local soldier hero who was recently killed defending our country. Doug Conn of Quitman, Texas, is the Director and Founder of Today's Girl. Gayle Jackson is the Louisiana State Director and the local director for the East Texas Area Pageant.
