A. B. Roberts

Memorial services with military honors for A.B. Roberts, 82, Kemp, formerly of Murchison, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Cooper Funeral Home, Athens, with Nick Sholars officiating.

Mr. Roberts died March 3, 2007, in Gun Barrel City.

He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Poynor to John O. and Eunice Green Roberts. He graduated from Poynor High School and attended Henderson County Junior College. He served in the Merchant Marines and Navy during World War II in the Aleutian Islands, Midway, Saipan, Tianna and Pilute. He was a drag line operator, and cattle rancher.

Survivors include his daughters, Ann Lewis Boyles and Cindy Richardson; mother of his children, Loree Roberts; sisters, Pat Ashworth, Louise Shelton, Clarice Fincher, Sue Robison and Jonnie Burnett; four grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Norman Slaton, Kenneth Slayton, Jamey Jackson, Larry Everett, James Hardin and Carl Richardson.
