Brownsboro Intermediate scientists prove their theories during annual science fair
"These kids are ten times awesome," said Patricia Spence, 6th grade science teacher and organizer of the fair. "They exceeded any expectation any of us had for them. They're all winners as far as I'm concerned." The following winners were announced during the fair Tuesday evening: Fourth Grade- 1st Place: Madison Timmerman - Tsunamis 2nd Place: TIE - Caroline Spence - Sand Snowman Braylon Wehrmann - Earthquakes and Tectonic Plates 3rd Place: TIE - Meghan Vogt - Danger at Sea: A Lighthouse
4th Place: TIE - Brooke Johnson - Light with the Use of Magnets Derrick Wilson and Nick Young - Zoology and Habitats of Animals 5th Place: TIE - Kyle Traywick - Fossils Meosha Deed, Amanda Odom and Shyanne Jennings - Heart and Lungs 6th Place: TIE - Jon Howard - Lever Morgan Robbins - Hurricanes and Tornadoes 5th Grade - 1st Place: TIE - Carissa Dingler - Waterproof Brianna Knight - Stages of Plants 2nd Place: TIE - Jennifer Cardenas - Crystals Michael Strangfeld - Powerful Produce: How Can Fruits & Vegetables Conduct Electricity?

Cleaning up Oil Spills Taylor Jackson - Lights, Color Emotion! 5th Place: Kalee Morgan - Catching Caffeine Criminals 6th Grade: Brooke Spears - The Incredible Brain 6th Grade- 1st Place: Kylie Bridges - What are Clouds? 2nd Place: Celeste Padron, Jacobi Parker, and Katy Young - The Water Cycle 3rd Place: Austin Carr - Got Gas? 4th Place: TIE - Kayleigh Tillery - Effects of Exercise: Changes in Carbon Dioxide Output Lucas Lemons, Taylor Massey, and David Grob - Air Cushion Vehicle 5th Place: Karina Rojas, Ceeilia Gomez, and Elena Duran - Lighting in a Pan 6th Place: TIE - Kevin Elder - How to Make Light Olivia Williams and Megann Hagmann - Poppin Popcorn Mrs. Spence said the science fair taught students the scientific process while gaining experience in collaborating with one another on their projects. "Hopefully this will encourage students to keep trying to keep experimenting, to keep making messes, and to keep learning," she said. "They learned something without even knowing it."
