1st Baptist Church of Chandler
by Joanne Davis

Spring Break is drawing to a close, but it has been an interesting and eventful week for all. First off, there were our youth during their "Week of Mission." They started the week by painting a house for one of the citizens of Chandler who needed some help. Then, they worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store and in their kitchen one day. To finish up their mission work, they were off doing yard work for various individuals. They spent the week living in the H.O.P.E. Fellowship Hall, eating meals together and fellowshiping. I'm very proud of the work our youth do for the community. We can be sure that we do have strong, Christian leaders in the future, for they will come from our own youth groups.

Bro. Danny will be returning today (Thursday) from his trip to Ohio where he has been conducting a revival in Ada, Ohio, at the Genesis Baptist Church. He will be anxious to let us all know how it went while he was there. Hopefully, he wasn't snowed in any while he was there. We all look forward to hearing how it went for him.

In his absence, Bro. Louie Adams filled the pulpit last Sunday. Everyone always enjoys hearing Bro Louie preach. We truly are blessed to have both Bro. Louie and Bro. Bob to back up Bro. Danny. Thanks to Bro. Louie for his diligent work during Bro. Danny's absence.

Our pre-teen boys' classes are going strong. How about your pre-teen boy? Is he signed up for this class as well? The class is similar to RAs, but we are not using the RA material. These young men have signed up to be involved in learning God's Word. Never put down the youth of this country; many of them are growing up to be strong, God-fearing Christians, so I believe our country will be safe in their hands in the future. As this group grows, we may need to find new space for them to meet for their activities.

We might begin rivaling the Sunday morning service for attendance. Each week, the group seems to grow even more. It's really great to see so many coming out for the classes and the worship services in the evenings. With both the GAs and the Boys ministries, as well as the youth ministry, joining us for the first part of the worship service, we get to see just how active our church really is. Sometimes we miss a lot of the activity because the various groups are so spread out. Come, join us at 6:00 p.m. for one of these sessions.

God is doing His part to help our church grow. Are you? We are revamping our G.R.O.W. Outreach Program, and truly want your help to make our new endeavors a success. We will be receiving leads of all new families that move into our area. Our job is to reach them with the message of Christ and invite them to become part of our Christian family. Won't you come be a part of this outreach? We meet on Tuesday evenings on the first, third, fourth and fifth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. On the second Tuesday of each month, we meet at 1:30 p.m. for those of you who would prefer to visit newcomers during the day.

Our ladies leave today to go to the Women of Faith Conference. What a great time they will have in San Antonio! Be in prayer for those who are going and if you aren't one of them this year, what about next year? God may be calling you to become involved as well.

Do you have a church home? If not, we welcome you to join us any Sunday morning at 9:45 for Sunday School and at 11:00 for our morning worship. Please come join us anytime. Our Sunday evening services are held at 6:00 and our Wednesday evening services begin at 6:30. We would love to have you join us.
