Lake Palestine U.M.C. Several people in the church have been either out of town or ill this past week, but the weather this past Sunday made for a great day to get out and come to church. Now that Spring Break is over and the Easter season is upon us, there is quite a lot to do and plan for. One major announcement is that on Palm Sunday there will be only one church service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday School will move back to 9:00 a.m. The Easter service times are still being discussed, so stay tuned for future announcements. Next Sunday, March 25, there will be a potluck meal after church followed by an Administrative Council meeting and an update on the Transforming Church seminars that several members have attended in the past few months. It should be a very interesting time. The Lenten Bible study was led by Rev. Prather this past Sunday night. We were glad to see him back from Virginia. We know that he and Rebecca had a great time out there. Most of the Bible study group was back together too, although we missed Dorothy Botts who is still seeing doctors about her eye, and Kaethe Griffin who was feeling under the weather. We were sorry to hear that Debbie Bernard's uncle had passed away. Our prayers are with her and her family and also with the family of Carol Allen who passed away recently. Dale Whisenhunt's brother has shown some improvement. We hope he continues to get stronger. We continue to pray for Argle Hicks who has been sick for a while. Lillian Stegall has been away helping her daughter and family move. That sounds like a lot of fun. The Thursday morning quilting group is working on a Christmas quilt. Anyone is invited to come out to the church and help with it. Even those who don't know how to quilt can be taught. Of course, Friday night is game night. It is usually a lot of fun for everyone who likes to come out and play any sort of game. We were glad to see that Angela Martin got a good response to her call for socks and underwear for the Women's Crisis Center. There are a lot of plastic Easter eggs coming in too. Carla Fisher is getting together some singers for special occasions at the church. Anyone interested in this can contact her. |
